Hello and welcome!
My name is Sophie Severs (she/her), and I am a junior at Emerson College in Boston, majoring in Journalism and minoring in Public Relations. I am set to graduate in December of 2024.
I am an upbeat, highly communicative, responsible, and organized person, dedicated to broadening and diversifying my skill set. I utilize every opportunity I receive to create meaningful connections, aided by my passion for creation and collaboration with others.
As a Chinese-American woman, I have experienced the effect that both poor coverage and representation have on marginalized communities. I plan to use these lived experiences to inform my work as both a journalist and publicist, seeking to advocate for diverse and underrepresented communities, fostering fair coverage and providing equal opportunities for all.
Besides being a full-time student, I am a writer and freelance journalist, currently serving as a contributing staff writer for Atwood Magazine. I simultaneously work as a freelance publicist and as a PR Representative for Universal Music Group's º1824; providing outlets and content creators with direct opportunities to grow their reach and interact with various musicians under Universal Music Group.
